Provet Dropship API

Backend integration for eCommerce sites


Overview

The Provet Dropship API allows an online shop to place orders through Provet and deliver the goods direct to the end customers address, all through Provet's state of the art distribution network.

To implement the Provet Dropship API into an online store, a plugin or module will need to be developed to handle the integration. This module controls all the communication between the online store and the Provet Dropship API - from populating the store with available products, to placing orders and tracking them through to shipping.


Integration Steps

In order to integrate with the Provet Dropship API, a plugin or module will need to be developed to interact with the online shop. As each online shop is different and has varying needs and levels of integration required, this is a custom component that will need to be developed externally. However Provet is readily available to work with the chosen third party to assist with the integration development every step of the way.

Products

The Dropship API feaures a complete range of products that Provet can ship directly to an end customer on behalf of a client. The product details have been carefully curated to deliver the most accurate and up to date rich information including pictures, recommended retail pricing and HTML descriptions.

This product list is updated nightly to reflect the current products and pricing available to you. We encourage you to store this list locally in the online store, amd update once per day tp keep in sync with what is available.

The quantity on hand for a product is available in real time - minimising the chances of an order not being fulfilled.


Order Processing

Orders sent through to the Dropship API are processed in real time - as soon as the order is submitted it is sent through to the warehouse for picking and dispatching. As the order moves through the warehouse, the status is updated on the Dropship API - allowing you to update your customers on the progress of their order placement.


Order Payment

The Dropship API does not offer any payment options. As such all payments are to be handled by the client online store. This includes orders, refunds etc
Provet will send the invoice direct to the clinic for the goods ordered through the Dropship API.


Shipping Options

All orders placed through the Dropship API will be delivered through Provet's state of the art distribution facility. We will deliver the order to the end customer using the fastest and most cost effective courier available to our network.


Deleting an Order

Once an order is submitted through the Dropship API it is automatically sent through to the warehouse for picking/packing/shipping. This enables the goods to be shipped to the customer in the most timely manner possible. As such, it is not possible to cancel an order once it is placed in the system.

If this functionality is required it is to be handled in the integration of the online store (eg: hold orders for 30 minutes before sending though to the Dropship API to handle cancellation window etc)


Clinic Delivery

A dropship order can be delivered to your clinic along with your next regular order - thus saving your customer postage costs.

This option can be selected via the API call and the Dropship system will take care of the rest.


How to test

The Dropship API provides access to a "Sandbox" environment. This environment is designed to be isolated from the wharehouse/dispatch workflow to allow the development and testing of the integration.

Once the integration is complete, Provet will coordinate an end to end test on the live production system - shipping a product direct to your designated address.
